Renewables - Domestic Solar and Battery Package: Survey to Commission

One enquiry. Two technologies. Full control.

Step by step

1
Enquiry and CaptureLeads

Log the customer enquiry, capture current setup details, energy goals, and any site constraints such as listed building or conservation area status.

2
Site SurveyeForms App

Attend site to assess roof, shading, consumer unit, and battery location under PAS 63100. Complete the survey form via the eForms App with measurements and photographs.

3
System Design and QuoteQuotes

Build the combined package quote covering panels, inverter, battery, labour, circuit protection, and any consumer unit works. Include DNO notification and MCS compliance as deliverables.

4
Acceptance and Deposit InvoiceInvoices

On customer acceptance, raise the deposit invoice and confirm the installation date. Communicate equipment lead times to the customer.

5
Equipment ProcurementPurchase Orders

Issue purchase orders to panel, inverter, and battery suppliers. Track delivery dates against the installation date and sequence orders to avoid staggered arrivals.

6
InstallationJobs

Install panels, inverter, and battery. Confirm PAS 63100 compliance for battery location. Fit circuit protection, isolation switches, and system labelling to BS 7671.

7
DNO Notification and MCS RegistrationeForms

Notify the DNO of the completed installation. Register for the MCS certificate. Issue the Electrical Installation Certificate to the customer.

8
Commissioning, Handover, and Final InvoiceInvoices

Commission the system, configure monitoring, walk the customer through the Smart Export Guarantee, and issue the full handover pack. Raise the final invoice.

What this workflow solves

Quoting solar panels and battery storage together is complex, with different equipment, suppliers, and lead times that are difficult to track against a single confirmed installation date.

DNO notification paperwork and MCS certification documentation gets lost between the survey and commissioning stages, leading to compliance delays that hold up the final invoice.

There is no clear link between the accepted quote, the equipment purchase orders, and the live job, so cost overruns and delivery problems only become visible at the last minute.
