Renewables - Residential Solar PV Survey to Installation

8 steps. One system. Survey to SEG.

Step by step
1
Enquiry and QualificationLeads

Customer enquiry received via website, phone, or referral. Qualify the lead - roof type, orientation, ownership status, and approximate electricity usage. Log against a lead record and assign to a surveyor.

2
Site SurveyeForms App

Surveyor visits the property. Roof condition, orientation, pitch, shading, and structural integrity assessed. Inverter and battery placement identified. Data captured via a digital site survey form and submitted to the project file.

3
System Design and QuoteQuotes

System designed based on survey findings. Quote produced specifying panel count, system size (kWp), inverter type, battery option, and estimated annual generation. 0% VAT applied. Quote sent to customer for review.

4
Contract and DepositContracts

Customer accepts the quote. Contract issued covering deposit terms, DNO notification responsibility, MCS registration, and warranties. Deposit invoice raised and confirmed paid before equipment is ordered.

5
Equipment ProcurementPurchase Orders

Purchase orders raised for panels, inverter, mounting hardware, and battery if included. Delivery date confirmed against the booked installation slot. Delivery notes recorded on arrival.

6
InstallationJobs

Scaffolding erected in advance. Installation team mounts rails, installs panels, runs DC cabling, fits inverter, and connects AC wiring to the consumer unit. All circuits tested before system is energized. Typical domestic system completes in 1-2 days on site.

7
DNO Notification and MCS CertificateeForms

G98 or G99 DNO notification submitted depending on system size. MCS certificate applied for on behalf of the customer. Certificate typically issued within 2-3 weeks of installation.

8
Final Invoice and SEG RegistrationInvoices

Balance invoice raised once MCS application is submitted. Customer assisted with SEG provider selection and registration. Job record closed once SEG registration is confirmed.

What this workflow solves

Survey notes exist only as paper forms or photos on a technician's phone - when system design happens back at the office, key details are missing or misremembered, leading to incorrect specifications in the quote.

Equipment is ordered without confirming delivery against the booked installation date, so the team arrives on site before panels are delivered and the installation has to be rescheduled at short notice.

MCS registration and SEG paperwork fall through the cracks after installation because there is no formal ownership of the post-installation compliance steps, leaving customers unable to register for export payments.
