What is a kit in Zigaflow?

A kit is an item made up of sub-items or components, each with a quantity. Create it in the item list by ticking Is Kit and adding kit items, or convert an item already on a quotation or job into a kit. Add a kit to a quote, job or works order by name and its components come with it. Kits appear with a four-square icon in the item search.

Can a kit have its own price rather than the sum of its parts?

Yes. A kit either uses Kit Item Prices, where the total is the sum of its components and there is no separate kit price, or Use Kit Price, where the kit has one price and the components show none. Toggle between the two in the item list or from the kit's menu on the quote, where Use Kit Price and Calculate New Kit Price totals the components as a starting point you can then edit.

Can I hide components of a kit on the quote PDF?

Yes, in two places. In the item list, tick Hidden Item on a kit item and it is hidden every time that kit is used. On a specific quotation or job, multi-select the items and choose Hide on PDF; the red eye icon unhides them. Hidden items do not print, and with a section style you can still describe and picture them inside the kit's line using the kit item variables.

Does Zigaflow support nested kits?

Yes. Kits can contain kits, and since August 2026 you can expand and collapse them, including nested kits, on quotes, jobs, sales orders and works orders. Collapse for an overview of the order, expand the ones you are working on.

How do I know if I have enough stock to build a kit?

Use the Buildable Kit Qty column, added in April 2026 to quotes, jobs or orders, works orders and the stock overview. It calculates how many of the kit you can produce from current stock. When you manufacture a kit and already hold some of it allocated, Zigaflow makes only the remaining quantity.

What is a variant and how is it different from a kit?

A kit is one product made of several. A variant is one product that comes in several versions. You set up a base variant, for example a T-shirt, with option sets such as color and size. Zigaflow generates a SKU for each combination using short derivations and a divider you choose, and creates the items. The customer cannot order the base itself; on a quote the rep picks the options and the matching SKU is added, and can switch it later.

Can I import kits and variants from a spreadsheet?

Yes. The Import Center has an Import Items Kits template with kit code, kit item code, quantity and a hide flag; the kits must already be marked Is Kit. Variants have two imports: one for base variants with their options and divider, and one to add SKU items to existing variants. Kits and variants are the two ways Zigaflow's item list describes products that are more than one line. A kit is an item made of other items: a display stand with its panels, fixings and graphics, or a hospitality pack with its contents. You build it in the item list by ticking Is Kit and adding components with quantities, or convert an item already on a quotation into a kit and pull the components in from the document. A kit prices in one of two ways, and you can switch on the item or on the document: Use Kit Price gives the kit one figure and hides component prices, while Kit Item Prices totals the components. Kit items can be marked hidden so they never print, or hidden per document, and a section style can present the kit as one line with each hidden component described and pictured inside it. Kits nest, and since August 2026 nested kits expand and collapse on quotes, jobs, sales orders and works orders. The Buildable Kit Qty column shows how many you can make from stock, and manufacturing a kit accounts for any of that kit you already hold.

A variant is one base product with options. Set up the base with option sets such as color and size, either typed as semicolon-separated values or picked from a preset list, choose the short codes and divider, and Zigaflow generates the expected SKU codes and creates the items. Prices and costs on the base carry to every SKU unless you override them. On a quotation the rep picks the variant, chooses the options and the right SKU is added; Switch SKU changes it later. Both kits and variants import from spreadsheets, so an existing catalogue comes across in the right shape.
